brushing the dust off

After a emotional weekend, I started thinking and not allowing my emotions to dominant my actions.  I was ready to put my kiln up for sale yesterday!  But what good would that do? Could I fault people for not bidding on glass jewelry?  One other well known jeweler/artist told me during the auction that she had to sit and pitch her piece during the closing.  

Perhaps people are not aware of the time and skills it takes to make the jewelry pieces?  Truth be said that until recently, the lines of jewelry and glass were crossed.  Yes it's been done before, Lalique and Tiffany to name a few.  But this is a new age of studio glass- and people want fresh ideas.  Glass and jewelry artist alike are trying to merge these two components- because they look so darn good together.  I admit, its not easy to do both well!

Facere, and Pratt are having a glass artist and jeweler collaboration.  If anyone reads my blogs and is a glass artist or jeweler, I encourage you to take part in this.  This is the only way to A. raise the bar on a new frontier and B. bring awareness to this crazy hybrid artform.
